“ Elisabet, these are very professionally presented, beautiful to look at and are getting there conceptually. I believe you have enough of a consistent style and good formal eye to be in the upper level. Distorted Reality 002 and Hidden Faces are my favorites because of value range. Keep doing more like that.”                                             Jury/Curator

Known for her oil and watercolor paintings and her controversial self portrait, this time she chooses to use photography to express abstract and ephemeral art. Years of light and color combination study had trained her eye to discover interesting forms in nature. This time she replaces the brush for a camera and the light reflections to blend the surrounding colors, quoting her about this;

Reflections, refractions and diffractions of light in nature create amazing sights

that change so quick that is almost impossible to fix them on our retina. Only a photogram can register those variations. I take advantage of this characteristic when combining three elements: Earth, Water and Air. Turbulence in running water and wind gust over the surface create the perfect canvas where I can capture those infinitesimal moments in reflecting elements that exist in nature but our brains tend to filter letting us see only the part of them that we can decode. My photographs are direct shoot and not processed in any way. They only show the reality of that unrepeatable instant that for the untrained eye looks like…. Distorted Reality

Elisabet d'Epenoux was born in Buenos Aires. She spent her childhood back and forth between the French Campaign, the coast of Bretagne, and the countryside in the Argentine Pampas where she developed her love for nature reflected in her work. Soon she learned to adapt herself to this constant triangulation manifested in her work as a "perpetual trilogy." This characteristic is shown in the diversity of her work as she moves from oil to acrylic to watercolors, from brushes to spatulas to fingers, from landscape to botanical to animals. There are three locations where she is inspired to paint as she switches back and forth between her three ateliers located in Buenos Aires, on the family ranch in the Argentine Pampas, and by the sea on the Florida east coast. As a photographer the trilogy nature of her work becomes evident when she uses light reflections, refractions and diffractions to shoot a combination of three basic elements: earth, air and water.
